You can save these photos to your computer, print, and cut them out, and hang them wherever you like. You could give one to a friend who needs encouragement or fold one up and slip it into your sibling’s backpack with a note on the back saying how much you appreciate them! Be creative by printing them out on cardstock and give them as Valentine’s Day gifts (or save them for Easter).

P.S. All verses above were taken from the King James Version Bible.

Easy 30 Minute T-Shirt Revamp

Easy 30 Minute T-Shirt Re-vamp - simplymeganjoy.wordpress.com 2

Easy 30 Minute T-Shirt Re-vamp - simplymeganjoy.wordpress.com 11.JPG

Who doesn’t like wearing a comfortable t-shirt? Who is tired of wearing plain tees? Who is done with paying for high-priced graphic-shirts at the store? I know I am! (Is this a overloaded sales pitch or what?!)

As an alternative, I like designing and making my own tees, and I thought it would be a good thing to share on the blog. The best part is, this whole project only cost me a little under $8 to complete! This project takes about half-an-hour, so just gather your supplies, turn on your favorite 30-minute TV show, and create your new tee!

Supplies needed: a plain v-neck t-shirt, fabric markers, a stencil, a small bit of fabric. All supplies can be found at any craft store like Michael’s, A.C. Moore, etc.

Step 1: Lay your plain v-neck t-shirt on a flat surface.

Step 2: Test out the marker colors on the inside of the shirt to make sure they show up how you want them to.

Step 3: This step is very important. Take a piece of cardboard (I used the packaging from the stencils) and place it inside the shirt directly under the stencil.
This way the markers won’t soak through to the back of the shirt.

Step 4: Begin coloring, making sure you don’t move the stencil.

Step 5: Decorate the sleeves with a stencil or by hand, still using the cardboard in between the fabric layers.

Step 6: Whip stitch one or two strips of fabric to the neck (the fabric should be hemmed on all sides, so it doesn’t unravel in the wash).

Mother’s Day // DIY Creation

Mother’s Day is just around the corner! What do you have planned to celebrate the person who loves you most? Sometimes, a store-bought card just isn’t enough to say the words you want to say, so here’s a Do-It-Yourself project that will be ready before Sunday comes around.

I made this for my mom last year for Mother’s Day. It’s really simple to make and is super cute. I also made one for my Grandmom, because she’s a mother, too!

Things needed for this project:

  • A small sized canvas (approx. 3” by 3”)
  • Non-perishable flowers
  • Colored paper
  • Markers
  • Mini clothespin
  • Hot glue gun
  • Acrylic paint
  • Craft glue
  • Sparkles or mini pearl beads (optional)
  • A mini easel or canvas stand (optional)

All of these things can be found at any craft store like Michaels or A.C. Moore.

Instructions:

  • Paint your blank canvas your mom’s favorite color or colors. Let dry.
  • Add a sparkly or pearly border to your canvas with craft glue.
  • Hot glue flowers to your canvas.
  • Hot glue mini clothespin to canvas.
  • Cut out and write on colored paper, then apply to canvas with craft glue.
  • Set canvas on mini easel.
  • (Don’t forget to write your name and the year on the back.)

Mission Complete!

You can choose to put it on a stand or hang it on the wall, whatever you choose. The (out of focus) photo below shows one that I covered completely in flowers. It didn’t quite turn out the way I had imagined, but I think it’s still unique.
