I find so many of Eleanor Roosevelt’s words inspiring and useful for everyday living. If you’re a Princess Diaries fan, (another of my favorite films) you may remember hearing Joe, in the movie, recite this quote to Mia.
These eleven words should be kept in everyone’s heart and brought out on occasion when belittlement arrives before us. We are all, at one point, given the opportunity to feel inferior, “lower in rank, status, or quality.”
However, nobody can force us to believe that we are worth less than any other person, and we shouldn’t believe that. What others say with the intention of hurting us, can’t hurt us unless we let it. Without our consent, they are merely words floating in the air and unless we reach out and grab them and take them to heart. It’s one thing to hear these things from a stranger, but it’s even harder if you hear it from someone you love. Just remember your great importance in life, your worth.
So, how can we be sure that we have great worth in this world?
John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
It is because He loves us that we each have such incredible worth. He gave his own Son, because He loves so much. Now I think that’s pretty special!
With God’s help, we can all know that we are each deeply valued and loved by Him.

Have you ever felt inferior because of someone else’s words?
